The Spa Novices’ Hurdle, sometimes known as the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle for sponsorship purposes, is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle competition in Great Britain available to horses aged four years or older. It is run over a distance of about 3 miles (2 miles 7 furlongs and 213 yards, or 4,822 meters) on the New Course at Cheltenham, with twelve hurdles to be jumped. The event is for novice hurdlers and is scheduled every year at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
When a fourth day was added to the Festival in 2005, it was one of several new races introduced. Brit Insurance sponsored the event for its first three runs, and it was graded at the Grade 2 level. Albert Bartlett, a vegetable farming company, began supporting the event in 2008 and has had Grade 1 status since then.
