The Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase is a steeplechase run by the National Hunt in Great Britain for horses aged five and above. It is contested over a distance of around 3 miles and 6 furlongs (3 miles, 6 furlongs, and 37 yards, or 6,069 meters) on the Cheltenham Cross-Country Course, and there are thirty-two obstacles to be negotiated throughout the race. It was first held as a handicap event before being converted to a conditions race for the 2016 edition, and it is scheduled on the second day of the Cheltenham Festival in March each year.
In 2005, a fourth day was added to the Cheltenham Festival, resulting in the creation of the event. It is currently one of Cheltenham’s three cross-country chases, with the others taking place in November and December. Sporting Index initially sponsored all three, then BGC sponsored them in the 2007–08 season. Glenfarclas, a whiskey distillery, started funding the series in 2008–09.
