The Baring Bingham Novices Hurdle (also known as the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle due to sponsorship considerations) is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle competition held in the United Kingdom for horses aged four and above. It is raced over a distance of around 2 miles and 5 furlongs (4,225 meters) on the Old Course at Cheltenham, and there are ten hurdles to be leapt throughout the race. The event is scheduled each year at the Cheltenham Festival in March and is open to novice hurdlers.
The Ballymore Properties Novices’ Hurdle was postponed and raced on Cheltenham’s New Course because to severe winds on the day of the scheduled running in 2008. Neptune Investment Management, a new sponsor, joined the race in 2010. Ballymore has returned as a sponsor for the 2019 race. The race’s official (non-sponsored) name is currently the Baring Bingham Novices’ Hurdle. Baring Bingham, a businessman who bought Prestbury Park in 1898 and organized the inaugural Cheltenham Festival in 1902, is honored.
